For many people, running isn’t just a sport but a way of life. Runners are their own community and through the social networking sites listed below, they can do everything from getting tips and resources, to networking, to finding a love connection with other runners.

  1. Runner+: Running Social Network This is an excellent social networking site for the runner who wears Nikes and uses an iPod. It links the two together and helps you to measure everything out. This is linked to the iPod and tracks your run by distance and helps you to measure your effectiveness and build upon it. It’s a great site offering helpful tools and forums for this segment of runners.
  2. Runner’s Lounge – This is a site that is built by runners for runners and is focused on their every need. Here you can connect with other runners, learn some new tips, and find some great resources. This caters to the diehard runner who wants to keep building upon their performance and enhance it through the appropriate resources.
  3. Complete Running – This is based on each runner setting up their own blog and posting pertinent articles, tips, and ideas that may be of interest to the community. You can find out everything that you’ve ever wanted to know about running and the nice part is that you can really reach out to others with your own descriptive posts for a comprehensive site that draws runners in.
  4. Breaking the Tape – This is a site that caters to the runner in training, particularly for a big race or even a marathon. Though other runners can certainly use it, the reach of this site is to help keep this type of runner on track and offer them helpful resources and tips along the way. It can be a runner’s best friend in this capacity!
  5. Runner’s World – Though this is centered around the publication and has a draw back to that content, this social networking site is heavily populated as many runners are involved with or read this magazine. You can meet every type of runner on here from the novice to the serious and established veteran. There are some great resources and articles on here that runners can flock to—and they do!
  6. Go Run Easy – It makes sense that all of the major shoe companies have gotten in on the act of having
their own social networking site. Here we see that Reebok has developed their own version, and it is in fact quite comprehensive. You can create your own customized running path or learn from others half way around
the world. This is definitely one worth visiting just for the networking alone!
  7. Run Dates – The list wouldn’t be complete without at least one social networking site that connects the single runners for dating potentials. Here single runners can meet other single runners and try to make their own connection. It’s a comprehensive site and seems to have a great success rate!

From Brian – Bonus Runner Social Network 8:

SGRunners.com – This is the best social network for runners in Singapore. They have a very active forum with people from all over Singapore and some from Malaysia, Indonesia and others discussing everything about running in Singapore. The site supports a network of bloggers (including Triharder!) by posting articles on the home page. It also has contacts with all the organizers and shops in the area and frequently offers discounts or offers.
