Midlands Ultra Triathlon Secures New 2010 Date

Lance ChapmanB-Active Sports and Wildlands Conservation Trust, the organizers of the 2010 Bonita’s / Sunday Tribune Midlands Ultra Triathlon, are pleased to announce a new race date for the popular event that takes place at Midmar Dam. This unique triathlon event which is part of the Bonita’s Wild-Series will now take place on Sunday, 7 March 2010 at the picturesque Midmar Dam. The date has been moved a month later into the year, to place it 2 weeks before the SA Triathlon Championships and 6 weeks ahead of the grueling Ironman South Africa event.

B-Active Sports have been working flat out to ensure that the course is ready for the 800 + athletes expected from around South Africa that that will converge on Midmar Dam. B-Active Sports director Damian Bradley said that a new and improved run course has been sourced, incorporating 50% tar and 50% dirt road. The trail running section gives the event a unique course keeping within the outdoor Midlands theme. In 2010 The Corporate Team event will be challenging companies and their employees to take up the challenge of a Triathlon to raise awareness and money for conservation projects.

The Midlands Ultra Triathlon features a Sprint event as well as the Ultra Distance event, each one incorporating the Corporate Team Challenge. Each event consists of a safe swim at Midmar dam, followed by a fast, scenic cycle along the famed Midlands Meander route and finishing with an awesome run route within the Midmar Reserve. The event forms part of the Bonita’s Wild -Series and funds raised from the event will go towards conservation projects supported by the Wildlands Conservation Trust.
